If the first 20% are captured in isolation, then it may become uneconomic to extract further savings leaving an inefficient

lighting system in place with operating costs and a carbon footprint which are significantly higher than they need to be. This also usually results in a solution with a much lower NPV and/or IRR. The most economic solution is generally found when the deepest savings are considered across the life of the lighting system, not just the low hanging fruit.
